Using Thymr

Terms of Service

These terms set the ground rules for using Thymr, sharing your cooking, and taking part in the community.

Effective 16 August 2026 · Last updated 16 August 2026

1. Who provides Thymr

Thymr is operated by Joshua David Tarfa, trading as Thymr (“Thymr”, “we”, “us”). You can contact us at hello@thymr.app.

2. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using Thymr, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not create an account or continue using the service.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Thymr.

3. Your account

  • Provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date.
  • Keep your sign-in credentials secure and do not share access to your account.
  • Do not impersonate another person or use a handle that infringes someone’s rights.
  • Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • Do not create accounts to evade a restriction or suspension.

4. Content you share

You keep ownership of the photos, notes, comments and other original content you post. You give Thymr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display and distribute that content only as needed to operate and secure the Thymr service. This includes showing a public Cook in feeds or on profiles, and enabling links to that Cook to be shared, according to the visibility setting you choose.

The licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies that remain temporarily in provider backups, content another user has lawfully reshared outside Thymr, or records we must retain for legal, security or dispute purposes.

You confirm that you have the right to post your content and that it does not:

  • infringe copyright, privacy, publicity, trademark or other rights;
  • include someone else’s personal information without an appropriate basis;
  • contain unlawful, threatening, hateful, harassing or exploitative material; or
  • mislead people about who created it or what it depicts.

5. Community safety and illegal content

Do not use Thymr to:

  • harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against another person;
  • post, encourage or facilitate illegal content or conduct, including fraud, credible threats, exploitation or child sexual abuse material;
  • spam, scrape, automate fake activity or manipulate engagement;
  • circumvent rate limits, access controls, suspensions or security measures;
  • upload malware or attempt to disrupt, probe or compromise the service; or
  • use another person’s account without permission.

Thymr does not review every post before it appears and does not currently use automated content moderation. We use proportionate measures including user reports, access controls and manual review. When we become aware of content we reasonably believe is illegal, we may restrict or remove it, preserve relevant evidence, and restrict or terminate the responsible account. We may also take those steps where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users or secure the service.

You can report content in the product where a report option is available or email hello@thymr.app. Include a link or other way to identify the content, why you believe it is illegal or violates these Terms, and how we can contact you. If you disagree with a moderation decision, or believe we failed to act on illegal content, email us with the word “complaint” and enough detail for a manual review. Do not use Thymr to report an emergency; contact the relevant emergency service or law-enforcement authority.

6. Rights complaints

If you believe content on Thymr infringes copyright, privacy, image, trademark or another legal right, email us with your contact details, the content’s location, the right involved and a clear explanation of the issue. We may restrict the content while reviewing the complaint and may ask for information needed to assess it. Knowingly submitting a false or abusive complaint is not permitted.

7. Recipes, allergens and food safety

Thymr provides recipes, ingredients, cooking steps, timers and cultural information for general guidance. Some material is created or edited by Thymr and some is attributed to third-party sources. Third-party material remains subject to its owner’s rights.

Some recipe data and artwork are provided by TheMealDB, an independent recipe-data service, and are used under its API terms. TheMealDB is not affiliated with or responsible for Thymr.

Kitchens, ingredients, substitutions and appliances vary. A recipe or ingredient list is not a guarantee that a dish is free from an allergen or suitable for a particular diet. Check product labels, cross-contamination risks, storage instructions, safe cooking temperatures and whether food is safe before eating it. Stop and use a reliable food-safety source if anything is unclear.

Thymr is not medical, nutritional, allergy or professional food-safety advice. If you have an allergy, medical condition or specific dietary requirement, seek appropriate professional advice rather than relying only on Thymr. This section does not exclude any responsibility Thymr has under law.

8. Thymr’s service and intellectual property

The Thymr name, branding, interface, software and original product content belong to Thymr or its licensors. These Terms let you use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes. They do not transfer ownership or allow you to copy, resell, reverse engineer or exploit the service except where the law expressly permits it.

Thymr is still developing. Features may change, be interrupted or be withdrawn, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. We will take reasonable care in providing the service and will not remove access arbitrarily.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Thymr at any time. You can request account deletion in Settings or by emailing us. The current in-app process records a request for manual review; it is not an instant deletion button.

We may suspend or terminate access for a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, security risk, legal requirement or material harm to another user. Where reasonably practical, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to contact us.

10. Liability and consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing affects rights you have under applicable consumer law.

If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage that was a foreseeable result of that failure or of our failure to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for business losses arising from personal use of Thymr, or for failures caused by events reasonably outside our control.

Content posted by users and links or services supplied by third parties are not endorsed by Thymr merely because they appear in the service. This does not remove any responsibility we have where the law requires us to act or where loss is caused by our own failure to use reasonable care.

11. Paid features

Thymr does not currently offer a live paid subscription. If paid features are introduced, the price, renewal, cancellation, refund and any additional terms will be shown before you buy. These Terms will not silently create a payment obligation.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Thymr or the law changes. We will update the date on this page and, for a material change, provide a prominent in-app notice or email before it takes effect. Changes apply prospectively. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using Thymr and request account deletion.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere you may also have the benefit of mandatory protections and the right to bring proceedings in the courts available under the law where you live.

14. General terms

If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive the right to enforce it later. These Terms and the documents they expressly refer to form the agreement between you and Thymr about the service.

15. Contact

Questions, complaints or legal notices can be sent to hello@thymr.app. Please do not send passwords, OAuth secrets or other account credentials by email.
